On April 26, 2023, Operation School Bell®, the signature philanthropic program of the Assistance League® of Ventura County (ALVC), distributed new clothing to 250 children at Olivelands Elementary School in Santa Paula. Children in grades TK-4th received hooded green sweatshirts and T-shirts, socks, underwear, books, toothbrushes, toothpaste and school supplies.
It was a beautiful day on a lovely campus filled with lots of smiles, both young and old. There were many school personnel on hand along with twenty volunteers from ALVC to help hand out clothing and supplies to the children. The kids were so cute and very appreciative of the red bags of goodies that they received.
In addition to the clothing drop, ALVC members were also fortunate to view a rehearsal for a Cinco De Mayo Celebration that the students were preparing for. The hearts of the volunteers were soaring that day along with the green hooded Olivelands Eagles.
Thank you to Principal Sam Pacheco and Superintendent Debbie Cuevas for allowing ALVC to partner with their school. Olivelands is one of the oldest schools in Ventura County and is part of the Briggs School District. It is located at 12465 Foothill Road, Santa Paula, CA 93060.
This clothing drop was one part of ALVC’s Operation School Bell® program that helps serve five school districts throughout western Ventura County and has been going strong since 1993, providing the necessities for at-need children and families in the community. ALVC is always looking for donations and volunteers.
