The purpose of Assisteens Auxiliary is to develop volunteers and community leaders through a combination of philanthropic programs, community service, fundraising activities, events and leadership opportunities. Members are responsible for participating in and tracking a minimum of 20 hours of annual service.
Membership is open to young men and women entering 7th through 12thgrade. Members will review and sign a Code of Conduct prior to participation.
Meetings and activities are directed by the Teen Governing Body with help and oversight from Assisteens Coordinator, Advisory Committee and parent participation.
There are many benefits to membership including: participating in our Teens Helping Teens program, experiencing the rewards of volunteering, contributing to your community, developing leadership skills, acquiring volunteer experience for college application requirements and resumes, and meeting new friends.
Assisteens Highlights:
– serve students in Ventura Unified School District with holiday gift bags, gift cards and handwritten notes. Students served are homeless, living without permanent residence or students identified by counselors as at risk.
– gift cards directed to foster and homeless children. Clothing and shoes also collected and given to CFS and the Care Closet.
Meetings for the organization are held on the second Sunday of each month at 4:00. The teens develop their own philanthropic and fundraising programs as well as offer support to the Assistance League chapter. The goals are to encourage a sense of community and personal responsibility, self-reliance, public speaking and leadership. Our Annual dues are $40.
